OK, life's very exciting on the conference front...
1) Saturday October 13, Nodehill Middle School, Isle of Wight
YEs, it's a Saturday. Yes, the Isle of Wight is a pain to get to (I live in Devon, that's not much fun for a Friday afternoon!!), and yes, it could be the day that revolutionises your teaching career. It did for me- this time it could be you!! This is my first real presenting commitment, and yes, like Lisa Stevens, I'm nervous. But that's a positive experience- so if you're already coming along, please make sure u say hi!!
For more details, please see Joe Dale's blog- here. Also, the Show and Tell the night before promises to be a fantastically exciting experience- with such luminaries (it's been a long day, the words tend to get longer as I go along- that's why i never pay Scrabble in the mornings!!) as David Noble, Joe Dale, Paul Harrington and possibly even Sharon Tonner coming all the way from Dundee, there'll be ideas a-plenty flowing- along with hopefully a pint or 2, cos by that time I'll be absolutely exhausted!!
2) Friday November 16th, Elliot school, Putney, London
I've been asked to talk at Neil Jones' conference under the banner of Content and Language Integrated Learning. The concept of teaching other subjects in what are currently considered "foreign" languages should surely be the nation's future goal- with our main issue being what languages things should be taught in. To be honest, I'd have been fascinated to have beena delegate at the day, but was really honoured to be asked by Neil. If you've not come across his work before, then please, please check out his fantastic post-16 podcasts here. PLease please check out the links, and hopefully I'll see you all soon!
